Photography: Sebastian Bahr
SEBASTIAN BAHR
Sebastian Bahr is a German analog photographer with a focus on unconventional documentation of landscapes and human made objects on film. His field of interest lies primarily in foreign countries and cultures, whose fingerprints and nature he likes to report. Sebastian’s work is a fascinating mixture of art and documentation, longing for the viewers rethinking of the depicted situation by the use of extraordinary angles and image compositions. The interplay of light and shadow as well as colors of negative film is a pervading factor of Sebastian’s photographic work.
The use of the mechanical analog equipment, hand-manufactured and exceptional in its technical wisdom, gives the artwork he is creating its own spirit. This unique character can, in his opinion, not be transported in a picture from a digital camera in the same way.
Sebastian’s equipment of choice is a Hasselblad 500C/M middle format camera as well as a Leica MP 35 mm camera.
