Artist Statement
As a photographer, I explore the delicate interplay between how we perceive versus how we experience
ourselves. I am very interested in playing with exploring the ways in which I as a photographer can capture all of the infinite moments that have led up to the image in the frame. My background as a dancer profoundly shapes my artistic vision. The constant tension between the internal and external worlds—a struggle I have navigated throughout my life—infuses my work with depth and resonance. Through my lens, I aim to create a space where the viewer can connect with their own experiences, celebrating the grace found in vulnerability and the art of being truly seen. Each photograph serves as a testament to the intimacy of self-discovery, encouraging viewers to embrace their own moments of solitude. Influenced by the physicalization of emotion, I delve into the beauty of vulnerability, inviting the audience to witness the profound strength that comes from emotional nakedness.
Stories
Seeds [un]sown:
To all of the seeds never sown
Held so tightly but never thrown
Nurtured over sleepless nights
But locked away by selfish fright
I wish you to be free at last
All those seeds I never cast.
vessel: The creation process for vessel happened on a whim. One of my good friends and I were having a late night conversation about how we viewed the process of creation. How sometimes as artists we take it so seriously, yet, whether it is a meticulously choreographed 20 minute body of work, or a small doodle on a piece of paper everything forms from the same vessel.
the moment of release: This photo highlights a special moment between my dear friend and I. A mentor of ours had passed away about three years prior and we were feeling called to go visit one of his favorite places. That day his warmth made the beach glow. I could feel his presence alongside the both of us, and we knew we had gotten one of our favorite shots.
Morning Ray: Morning Ray sparked from the desire to escape the rigidness of life in the city. Taking a pause, a moment to reconnect with the most basic fundamentals of life. The sun follows us wherever we may go, and she happened to have made a magnificent appearance in this shot.
