FERNANDO ESPINOSA
From fashion models to the harsh landscapes and wildlife of the Galapagos to the architec-ture of New York City, Fernando Espinosa Chauvin’s work is characterized by his unique artistic sensitivity to the world around him. He explores this through exceptional and innovative use of lighting techniques, capturing photographs which are complex, sophisticated and refined. Born in Ecuador, Espinosa began his professional photography career in New York working as a fashion photographer for modeling agencies such as Elite, Ford Models, IMG and Next. He has taught illumination techniques at photography workshops hosted by the International Centre of Photography in New York and the gallery Pobre Diablo in Quito, Ecuador.
His work has been exhibited in Korea, Qatar, Ecuador, Australia, New Zealand and the United States. He has also published many books including Afrodiasco, Dubrovnik (a travelogue), Split (a travelogue), Galapagos Surreal and Ecuador Tierra del Cacao. He is currently working on two books of photography entitled Appetite for the Senses and a book on Orchids.
Espinosa lives and works in New York.
